Offshore: The fishing offshore prior to this cold front has been excellent with catches of blackfin tuna to 15 lbs live baiting and smaller with trolling feathers. The issue is the onslaught of boats catching and keeping small tuna. Please remember to release small tuna as they can grow to 10 pounds within 6-8 weeks. We try to leave the masses behind and focus on finding free ranging schools of tuna. Mahi fishing has been excellent with several large gaffers taken this past week in the areas we fish in.  There are smaller mahi are in schools but the slammers are...

This past week has brought great fishing to the Upper and Middle Keys. We at Upper Keys Sportfishing have consistently caught nice slammer mahi on our longer Marlin charters and full day charters. The fish are found one at time and is more hunting than fishing. The tuna bite on the humps has been great but if you are happy with 20 charter and private boats catching lots of small 12" tuna then head there.  If you want the larger 20 plus pound blackfins you need to go away from the crowd and spend your time and fuel and willing...

Had the opportunity to run over to Bimini for some high speed wahoo trolling. We loaded up our Bost Wahoo Lures all rigged with double 10/0 hooks and 490 cable. Bright colors have been hot so orange and yellow were the colors of choice.  We cleared customs and zig zagged the edge from Bimini to Orange Cay. Action was non-stop with 20-50 pd wahoo hitting the deck every 20-30 minutes. Bright was right as they say and the glow yellow was the hottest. Our Bost #36 San Sal and Bost #80 Bullet were the hot heads. Speed was 14 knots and most fish were caught on...
