The 7th Annual Mad Dog Mandich Fishing Classic was a huge success. Keeping with tradition, the tournament hosted its Offshore Division, but also added a new Inshore Division. With 136 anglers on 35 boats, and another 100 guests that converged from all over South Florida, everyone enjoyed a weekend filled with fishing, fantastic food, drinks, gifts and prizes. On Saturday morning, the teams for both the Offshore and Inshore Divisions headed out to their favorite fishing spots. The species for Offshore included dolphin, tuna, kingfish, wahoo, snapper and grouper. When the scales closed for the Offshore Division, the top boat was Fishin’ Pole, with 90.4 points. Their points were the result of the aggregate weight of the top 3 fish they weighed for each species. The team’s total winnings were $6,902.50 as a result of the $5,000 Top Boat cash prize, another $1,402.5.50 for winning the 1st Place “Funfish Fortune” added value category and $500 from Larry Deddy’s prize for the Top Kingfish in the tournament. For the new Inshore Division, the species included red fish, snook, tarpon, spotted sea trout and mangrove snapper. The Grand Champion Angler was Jerry Layne, aboard Florida Keys Fun Fishing. Jerry was able to catch and release all five species for a total of 94.75 points. The Inshore 2nd Runner Up and Top Inshore Lady Angler went to Brittney Novalsky aboard Out of the Blue with 85.1 points and 3rd Runner Up went to Barry Smith aboard BLT Team. Thank you to everyone that came out to Fish, Party and Support us. We look forward to seeing you in October of 2015.
