We have had some beautiful weather here in south Florida this past week but the offshore fishing has been a little tough. There have been scattered mahi on weed lines from the edge on out but it has been very hit or miss, along the edge we have been finding scattered sailfish, some big kingfish, cobia & an occasional blackfin tuna all being caught on live baits in 100-200 ft. Also there have been amberjacks, mutton snapper & black and gag grouper on the wrecks in the 200ft range unfortunately the groupers have to be released until may 1st.   Thanks...

Offshore The word continues to be dolphin, dolphin dolphin as known in Florida. Mahi or Dorado in the Pacific and Atlantic. Nevertheless the catches are very good to excellent. We have caught several nice bulls and cows in the 30-40 pound class as well as many gaffer sized fish from 10-20 pounds. Multiple schoolies have been caught and released. The trick we tend to use is a mahi/tuna sized lure with a chugger head available from Bost in front of a smaller ballyhoo rigged with a 7/0 hook.   Immediately on a seperate rod several feet behind we place a horse ballyhoo naked with...

April 20,2014 Islamorada Fishing Report Offshore The word right now is slammer Mahi. They have been difficult to locate as they travel alone or in small packs. Rarely do they ever follow the big schools of peanuts. Upper Keys Sportfishing caught several this past week among dozens of smaller gaffer and schoolie sized fish. The bait of choice is a rigged ballyhoo in front of a small green and yellow lure like a Bost Mahi or Wahoo sized lure. Naked Ballyhoo set right behind this lure produced incredible hook ups. Tuna were caught from football to twenty pounds in the...

The fishing was great this past week . We had sailfish almost every day with Wednesday being the best when the wind came out of the North and we ended up tagging & releasing 7 out of 8 sailfish. There was also steady action from kingfish up to 30lbs, mahi, blackfin tuna although we didn't catch any of the tuna ,and plenty of Bonita, most everything was in 100-250ft of water on live baits fished under the kites. There were also some mahi out a little deeper under frigates chasing flying fish to the south. Tight Lines from Capt. Jimbo...

We have been having one of the best spring marlin seasons seen in years! Many boats coming in with C&R flags a blazing, nothing big, but Los Amigos has had 2 Stripers over the 180 mark in the last two weeks. Our crews have been encountering several marlin a day, some hungry, some just taking in the beautiful Cabo sun & weather, but that’s fishing! Our friends at Redrum Sportsfishing have had plenty of marlin action too! If you are in the area, try us out for the chance to catch these great fish and don’t forget C&R, Grays Taxidermy can...
